Clue #1 of 13

This battlefield is a major part of the American Revolution. In fact, it is the place where surrender was declared by the British. This battlefield is on the south bank of a major tributary flowing into the Chesapeake Bay. This river, which flows southeast off of the west point of Chesapeake Bay, was previously named the Charles River before the name was switched in 1643. The victory was because of a semicircle of artillery aimed at British troops on the nearby peninsula. The peninsula was chosen because of its deep water access by British General Lord Cornwallis. The zip code of this place is 23690. You can still visit this site today because it was preserved by Colonial National Historical Park. There is a 98 foot tall victory monument to commemorate the victory against the British in 1778. The monument was unveiled in 1884, and is located on this historic site. Zoom in on the tip of the peninsula where the British were stationed to find this battlefield!
