What is a TerraClues Hunt?
A TerraClues "hunt" is a puzzle with one or more clues to solve. Hunts typically have a theme or topic that connects the clues together. Each clue leads you to a hidden location on the map.
How to Play
If you have not played TerraClues before, the best place to start is to try the tutorial hunt which shows you the basics step-by-step.
Start by reading the hunt overview for any special instructions.
Click the Clues tab when you are ready to begin.
Click Clue #1 to see the full description of the first clue.
Often, you will need to search the internet to determine what location in the world the clue is referring to. Open a second browser tab and navigate to your favorite search engine. Or, enter a search term in the search box and click the 'G' icon.
Once you have a guess for the location, either pan or zoom the map, or jump to the location by entering its name in the search box then click the find icon. Tip: You can enter pretty much anything when searching for a location. You can enter a country name, a city name or even the name of a landmark like Grand Canyon or Yankee Stadium.
After searching, you may need to zoom in further to find the exact location on the map. Check the message in the yellow bar to see if you are zoomed to the right level.
Once you find the hidden location and zoom in close enough, you will see a congratulatory message. Great work!
Click "On to the next clue..." to find the next hidden location. Some clues are text and some have an image too. Click the back arrow in the corner of the clue window to return to the list of clues or to see the overview.
Click the "hamburger" menu button to open the main menu and return to the home page or return to the hunt list to choose a different hunt to play.
Create an Account to Track Progress
You don't need an account to play TerraClues. You can play anonymously if you prefer and your progress will be associated with your current browser session. Note, if you clear your browser cookies, all progress wil be lost. Crteate an
account to keep your progress regardless of which computer or browser you are on. Watch for a banner to alert you if you have not logged in
yet and are playing anonymously. Use the links in the banner to login or register for an account.
